Breast Augmentation with Lift

Many women seek breasts that are fuller, more perky, and more youthful. Breast augmentation alone is ideal for women who desire to enhance the shape and size of their breasts, but is best for women with a youthful breast shape because it won’t necessarily lift the breasts to a higher position.

When enlarging the breasts alone won’t achieve a woman’s aesthetic goals, Dr. Larry Lickstein recommends breast augmentation combined with a breast lift, or mastopexy, procedure. In fact, this is the breast rejuvenation procedure he recommends most commonly for mothers.

Preparing for Surgery

In preparation for your breast augmentation with mastopexy, you will attend an in-depth consultation with Dr. Lickstein. During this meeting, you will be able to honestly discuss your goals and desired results. Dr. Lickstein will take the time to ensure that you are fully educated about your options, the procedure itself, and the recovery process.

Before your procedure, you may be asked to temporarily stop taking some of your medications. You will also be asked to stop smoking, as this could impact the outcome of your procedure. You will not be able to drive yourself home after your breast surgery, so please make arrangements for transportation with a trusted friend or family member.

How Breast Augmentation with Lift Surgery Works

Breast lift with implants surgery is an outpatient procedure. To begin the procedure, Dr. Lickstein will make an incision and create a pocket for the breast implant. Once he is satisfied with the placement of the implant, Dr. Lickstein will move the patient’s nipple and areola to a higher position on her chest. The breast tissue will be meticulously reshaped to ensure that ideal contours are achieved before Dr. Lickstein closes the incisions with sutures.2,3

Breast Augmentation with Lift Recovery

After breast augmentation with mastopexy, you will recover briefly at the surgery center before being released to go home in the company of a friend or family member.

It is normal for women to experience soreness after breast lift with implants, and Dr. Lickstein will prescribe medication to help you stay comfortable. You may also feel tightness in the chest area, which will subside over the course of the next week or two. Cold compresses and sleeping in a slightly elevated position will help.

Most of Dr. Lickstein’s patients remain home from work for at least one week following a breast lift with implants. Strenuous activity and exercise should be avoided for at least two months, though you should be able to get back to light exercise and cardio within a few weeks.
