Lip Fillers

Full, luscious lips have always been a universal sign of beauty, and can make a person look sexier, more youthful, and more vital. While some people are born with naturally pouty lips, genetics and the effects of aging leave many people with lips that are lacking in fullness and definition. At Elle Aesthetic Arts in Loudoun County, Dr. Larry Lickstein excels in the use of dermal fillers and fat transfer to endow patients with plump lips that appear naturally fuller, younger, and more attractive.

Why Choose Dr. Larry Lickstein for Your Lip Filler or Augmentation?

Dr. Lickstein is an expert injector who has served for years as a teaching consultant with the companies that make dermal fillers, educating other providers on the best and most effective techniques for lip enhancement and other non-surgical procedures.

In addition to his skill and reputation for achieving stunning results, what makes Dr. Lickstein so sought-after is the way he personalizes treatment to meet each patient’s unique goals. Not only is each patient’s anatomy different, but each patient envisions a different outcome from her lip augmentation procedure. Dr. Lickstein combines artistry with several distinct techniques to inject lips, making it possible to fully customize results. Whether you are looking for a subtle augmentation that naturally rejuvenates your look or to maximize your pout with more extreme vertical height and fullness, Dr. Lickstein can help you achieve your goal aesthetic.

Benefits of Lip Enhancement

How Lip Fillers & Augmentation Work

Preparing for Lip Augmentation

During your consultation with Dr. Lickstein, you will have the opportunity to candidly discuss your goals. Based on your desires, Dr. Lickstein will customize your treatment plan and give you clear instructions to help you prepare for your procedure. In order to achieve the best possible results from your lip enhancement, you will be asked to:

Lip Injections with Dermal Fillers: The Procedure

Lip injections  with dermal fillers is an in-office procedure that takes only 15-30 minutes to perform and delivers immediate results. Prior to your procedure, Dr. Lickstein will select the most appropriate dermal filler to help you meet your aesthetic goals. While you are seated in a comfortable chair, Dr. Lickstein will apply a numbing cream to minimize any discomfort you encounter during treatment. As he injects and sculpts the dermal filler into your lip area, you might feel mild pressure or tingling. Following treatment, you will be given an ice pack to minimize any swelling and will be able to return to your normal routine immediately after the procedure.

Fat Transfer Lip Augmentation: The Procedure

Fat transfer lip augmentation (or autologous lip augmentation) is also an in-office procedure that Dr. Lickstein performs under local anesthesia. The first step in this procedure is the harvesting of your body fat, usually from your abdomen or inner thigh. Using advanced technology, Dr. Lickstein will then purify this fat before injecting it back into your lips. The entire procedure takes between 60 and 90 minutes, and you will be able to go home immediately after treatment.

Recovery After Lip Augmentation

Recovery after lip enhancement with dermal fillers or fat transfer is brief and should be pain-free. You may experience some redness, swelling, or mild bruising at the treatment area, but this should be mild and will gradually subside over the course of a few days to a week.

Before your lip augmentation procedure, Dr. Lickstein will give you specific instructions for your recovery, which will include:

Lip Filler and Augmentation Results

Immediately after your lip enhancement procedure, you’ll notice that your lips are fuller, better defined, and more youthful in appearance.

Lip augmentation with dermal fillers is not a permanent change, as your body will naturally metabolize the fillers over the course of six months to a year. Most of Dr. Lickstein’s lip injection patients return to his office every six to twelve months to have their lips touched up.

Lip augmentation with fat transfer provides longer-lasting results, with most patients enjoying the effects for up to 5 years.

Frequently Asked Questions About Lip Augmentation

  • Who is a candidate for lip augmentation?

Nearly anyone who desires plumper, better defined, more youthful lips is a good candidate for lip augmentation. During your consultation with Dr. Lickstein, you will have the opportunity to discuss your goals as well as any factors that may complicate treatment, such as a history of cold sores or other conditions.

  • What are the risks of lip augmentation?

Complications of lip augmentation are rare, especially when the procedure is performed by a plastic surgeon as highly experienced as Dr. Lickstein. In very rare cases, patients may experience redness, bruising, and bleeding at the injection site. Other possible complications include lumps or the ability to feel the filler under the surface of the lips; however, these side effects can often be improved by simple massage and most patients report natural-feeling lips once any swelling subsides.1
